Creating a Product from Scratch

  1. New Product
  2. Name of image – with single inverted commas
  3. Main text window gives additional details below the product on the single product page
  4. Select Category on right from Product Categories – can be more than one
  5. Product Tags – click “Choose from most used” & select appropriate. Add if needed, but re-use wherever possible
  6. Product Image – select main framed image on easel. Make sure Title and Alt Text are both the picture name
  7. Product Gallery – leave for now, could be used for alternative views in the future
  8. Product Short Description – add description to show alongside the product, above the options. Not too long!
  9. Product data – the biggie!
    1. Product Data – change to Variable Product
    2. Leave other fields on the Inventory tab blank
    3. Attributes tab – add Custom Attributes Artwork Type (click Add) and Frame (click Add again)
    4. For each custom attribute:
      1. Unclick “Visible on the product page” (this would show the attribute at the bottom of the product page
      2. Click “Used for variations”
      3. Value(s) – Click “Select All” to add all the options
    5. Click Save Attributes to make sure you don’t lose the settings so far
    6. Variations tab
      1. We have now set the list of attributes available for this product, but still need to set which combinations of attributes are available. In our case it’s easy, as all combinations are available
      2. Click dropdown Add Variations and select Create variations from all attributes. Click Go & confirm, then OK for 2nd popup
      3. Should have 4 variations listed, each with unique number. For each variation:
        1. Open the variation using the down arrow that appears on the right when hovered
        2. Enter details for variation
        3. Click image icon and select image for this variation
        4. Set the SKU: e.g. bh-print-name-of-picture or bh-print-f-name-of-picture or bh-original-f-name-of-picture (use lower case and hyphens)(-f- is for framed)
        5. Click Manage Stock tick box
        6. Enter the price in pounds
        7. Set stock qty (100 or 1)
        8. Weight & dimensions – could be useful in the future for linking to courier services, not essential now
        9. Shipping class – leave for now – allows different shipping in future for framed or unframed
        10. Variation Description – Add variation specific details inc dimensions
        11. Repeat for other variations

Duplicating an Existing Product

  1. Duplicate from list of Products – chose one nearest
  2. Rename – remember inverted commas
  3. Update Product Image
  4. Update Short Description
  5. Go into variations and for each one:
    1. Add the SKU (won’t be copied as it has to be unique)
    2. Change variation images (click to remove, then click again to select new)
  6. Click Save Attributes at bottom of page and Publish (or Update if already published) at top right of page
